Revised requirements for NIH non-competing continuation applications

October 12, 2009

Effective October 1, 2009, NIH is requiring additional information in noncompeting continuation applications (form PHS 2590 and the eSNAP module in the NIH Commons).

The most significant change is that the Senior/Key Personnel Report has been replaced with an All Personnel report.  PIs are required to list everyone who contributed to the project for at least one person month, whether or not they were charged to the project.  In addition, anyone with a postdoctoral role is required to have a Commons ID.  See NIH Notice OD-09-139 for additional details.

The revised PHS 2590 is available at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/forms.htm and the eRA eSNAP Module was updated October 9,2009.  While timely submission of continuation applications is encouraged, NIH is allowing a  grace period to November 1, 2009 to help investigators accommodate these policy changes.

Please contact your Sponsored Program Officer for additional information and assistance.
